Well, today we started on our home repairs from Hurricane Florence last September. This has been the longest process and the most stressful time I think I have had to endure thus far. We were able to get our new roof back in December, but the rest of the house had to wait until we had the underneath of the house fixed.
When the hurricane came through the creek behind the house rose and pushed the sand around under the house. There was quite a bit under there that had to be done. Now that it is finished we are able to start on the inside of the house.
Our storage pod was delivered on Monday and we started to pack everything up to move out. We finished moving everything out last night and my husband started tearing up the old flooring and found A MESS!! WOW! I did not expect that it would be as bad as it was and now I feel even more overwhelmed.
However, we will make it through. With a lot of prayer and hard work it will all be OK in the end. Tomorrow we will start ripping out all of the old sub-flooring and putting down new. This is going to be a long process, but we got this. The Lord has seen us through much bigger things and we have only grown stronger.
I know that there is a plan and a purpose for everything and I will rejoice that we still have a house to live in. There were a lot of people in the storm that had much worse damage than we did and some that lost their own lives. To say we were blessed is an understatement, but I thank the Lord that we are finally getting started on the inside repairs. I know He will see us through this trying time!!
"When you pass through waters, I will be with you' and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze." Isaiah 43:2 (NIV)
Until next time,
Nichole
